Güde's signature serrated edge on its beveled blade, significantly enhancing the knife's cutting ability and edge retention. It's ideal for bread, rolls, and baguettes, easily and cleanly portioning both soft and hard breads.
A blade built for generations. Hand-forged from a single piece of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum steel (X50CrMoV15), then ice-hardened to 57–58 HRC and hand-sharpened to a razor edge.
A handle unlike any other. The grip is crafted from oak staves sourced from wine barrels more than 80 years old. Decades of wine and time transform the wood into something near-indestructible — dense, rich, and full of character. Each handle is subtly unique. Finished with stainless steel rivets and a central aluminum palm rivet for balance and longevity.
Hand-Forged Steel, Ice-Hardened in Solingen
Every Güde knife begins as a single bar of rust-resistant chrome-vanadium-molybdenum steel. It's hand-forged, then ice-hardened in the Solingen factory to 57–58 HRC — hard enough to hold a razor edge through intensive daily use, flexible enough to handle a full range of cutting tasks without chipping. Over 40 manual steps go into each finished knife, making it a genuine piece of Solingen craftsmanship.
Güde's signature double bolster acts as a precision counterweight, bringing the knife into perfect equilibrium. Combined with full-tang construction, every gram is accounted for — so the knife feels like an extension of your hand, not a tool you're managing.
Care & Maintenance
Clean with a damp cloth immediately after use. Do not put in the dishwasher — the aluminum rivets and olive wood handle require hand washing. Avoid leaving the knife uncleaned after cutting acidic foods, and never use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. With proper care, this knife is built to last a lifetime.
