A forged blade will outlast the cook who buys it, provided the edge is never stored against other metal and the handle is not left to dry out. Wood and Mikarta handles in particular are kept out of the dishwasher and oiled from time to time, and a blade that is dried and wiped down stays clean at the bolster where marks otherwise collect. These are the pieces that handle that side of the work.
The collection holds five leather sheaths, cut for a 12-inch bread knife, an 8-inch chef's or santoku blade, Chai Dao and herb knives, paring and utility knives to 6 inches, and THE KNIFE. Alongside them are three care products, a 50 ml blade oil cleaner, a 50 ml wood oil for handles and a 100 ml knife cleaning soap, and three magnetic holders: a 14-inch Bisbell wall strip and magnetic knife displays in black and red.

Good to know
Güde Shop USA is Güde’s brand representative in the United States. Every knife ships from the USA, with a US team you can reach by email or phone.
Which line should I choose?
Every Güde line shares a blade drop-forged from one bar of steel in Solingen. What changes is the handle, the balance and the care: Alpha has dishwasher-safe black Hostaform, Alpha Olive, Pear and Barrel Oak put the same blade on wood, Kappa is all metal, and SYNCHROS drops the bolster. The line comparison sets them side by side.
Which Güde knives are dishwasher-safe?
The Alpha line with black Hostaform handles, the Universal line and the all-metal Kappa. Every wood and Micarta handle is hand-wash only: rinse, dry and put the knife away.

How do I keep the edge sharp?
Hone on a sharpening steel every few uses and sharpen on a whetstone when honing no longer brings the edge back. Cut on wood or plastic, never glass or stone. The care and sharpening guide walks through it.
